No election in Redington Beach

REDINGTON BEACH — No elections for Town Commission will be held in March because the incumbents have no opponents.

The qualifying period for candidates to express interest ended Dec. 21. Consequently, Mayor Nick Simons and Commissioners Fred Steiermann and Tim Kornijtschuk are automatically re-elected.

Steiermann has served on the commission since March 2007. This will be his sixth term.

Kornijtschuk is serving his first term, having been elected in 2017.

Simons is the longest-serving member of the commission. He was initially elected to the commission in 1990 and served three terms. After a series of resignations on the board, Gov. Lawton Chiles appointed him to the commission in 1997. Simons was elected mayor in March 2007.

Commissioners and mayor are elected to two-year terms.
