Daytona Beach man killed crossing St. Petersburg street

A 59-year-old Daytona Beach man was hit by a car and killed Monday while crossing a street in St. Petersburg, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to the FHP, Jack Martin Tashjian, of Daytona Beach, was walking west across 49th Street, just north of 58th Avenue N around 9 p.m. Tashjian walked into the path of a 2003 Ford sedan driven by 61-year-old Douglas John Summers, of Clearwater. Tashjian was struck by the car and transported to Northside Hospital where he died from his injuries. Summers was not injured.

FHP said alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the incident.
