Bodies found at Shephard’s on Clearwater Beach ruled murder-suicide

CLEARWATER BEACH —A Tuesday shooting at a Gulf Boulevard resort has been ruled a murder-suicide, according to the Clearwater Police Department.

Police said the bodies of Jeffrey Scott and Melissa Sue Little were found by a hotel employee in their second-floor room at Shephard’s Beach Resort on Tuesday around 1:29 p.m. The New Port Richey couple had checked in the day before.

Clearwater Police said homicide detectives continue to investigate, but preliminary evidence suggests Jeffrey Little, 55, shot and killed his 50-year-old wife before turning the gun on himself.

It’s the latest in a string of murder-suicides across the Tampa Bay area this week. On Monday, a Hillsborough deputy shot his wife, then himself and a Manatee man killed his wife and daughter late Sunday before killing himself.
