Tampa Bay residents who are off for President’s Day might want to consider a trip to the beach.
That’s because high pressure remains in firm control across the region, meaning enough sunshine, minimal rain chances, and temperatures that will be well above average — and even flirting with record highs.
The only hiccup for a possibly ideal day to spread your toes in the sand are the few clouds that will be in place most of the day, according to the National Weather Service.
Otherwise, unseasonably warm temperatures on Monday and through out the week.
After wake-up temperatures in the low 70s, which are near the average high for this time of year, highs on Monday will climb to the low 80s with a 20 percent chance of a passing shower and fueled by southerly winds off the Gulf of Mexico. That will be about 10-15 degrees above the normal high temperature, and could even approach the record high of 83 for St. Petersburg, set in 1961.
Overnight lows will drop into the upper 60s to near 70.
The heat is not likely to let up any time soon, as forecasters expect highs to gradually climb throughout the week, climaxing to a high of around 86 by midweek — and even warmer inland.
