Sheriff: Man struck and killed crossing Gulf Boulevard in North Redington Beach

A 61-year-old man from England died after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the street in North Redington Beach Friday.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Alex Lyons, 36, was driving a Dodge Dart southbound about 11:18 p.m. As he approached the Double Tree resort at 17120 Gulf Boulevard, he struck Roger P. Galvin, who deputies said was attempting to cross the street without using a crosswalk.

Galvin was transported to Bayfront Health in St. Petersburg, where he was later died, deputies said. Lyons refused medical treatment.

Alcohol and speed did not appear to be factors in the crash, the Sheriff’s Office said.
